STAFF MEMBERS
DEANNA LEONARD: Deanna Leonard, CORE's Director, grew up in small town Hay
River, Northwest Territories Canada with big dreams of becoming a marine biologist. After
graduating with a degree in Animal Biology from the University of Calgary and studying
marine biology at Bamfield Marine Science Center, she obtained an internship with CORE.
After completing her internship in the spring of 2003, Deanna was offered a position as
the Education Coordinator for CORE. Returning in 2004 she began her new role as the
Assistant Director for CORE with the responsibility of overseeing research, as well as
education and conservation programs. In October 2006, Deanna
was appointed as CORE's newest Director. At the end of the field season each year Deanna
returns to Canada to work as a Junior High School teacher. Her goal with CORE is to
promote awareness and protection of precious marine habitats by developing new and
exciting conservation and education programs for people of all ages.
SARAH PODLESKI: Sarah was a 2005 intern and returns in 2006 as a staff member and naturalist. She is originally from upstate New York and currently lives in Gloucester. In October of 2006, Sarah was appointed as CORE's new Assistant Director.
JAMIE GIBBON: Jamie Gibbon grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Wake Forest University in 2005 with a degree in biology. After graduation, he spent the summer in Gloucester as an CORE intern. He then spent the winter of 2006 in Maui, Hawaii studying humpback whales on their mating grounds. He returns to CORE this summer as a staff member and naturalist.
